BOOK REVIEW: The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan, The Heroes of Olympus #2

The Son of Neptune (The Heroes of Olympus, #2)The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Aha! The ever so popular and famous Percy Jackson reappears, but this time, at the camp Jason was originally from! Having not read the previous series, I didn't know much about Percy Jackson besides the fact that he was strong and popular amongst the gods and other demigods, but I knew he was important.

BOOK REVIEW: The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan, The Heroes of Olypmus #1

The Lost Hero (The Heroes of Olympus, #1)The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Per usual, I love the work of Rick Riordan and how he is able to mold mythology with the present. I haven't read the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series before and skipped to this one. It isn't too vital to read that series first, but it would help so you understand some of the characters being mentioned.

In this book, we get to meet Jason, another demigod, but from a different camp. We get to understand the purpose of his memory loss and the quest he is to go on with two other demigods he meets during this time.

City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments, #6)City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ah, the final part of this wonderful series of angels, demons, faeries, werewolves and vampires! I have to say, that this is one of my favorite series to read and this last story did not disappoint, as I have been anticipating to know what happens to everyone for the past couple years, with The Infernal Devices being a short tease too.

The Wolf by Lorenzo Carcaterra: Book Review

The Wolf: A NovelThe Wolf: A Novel by Lorenzo Carcaterra
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wowww! I did not know what to expect when I downloaded this book, nor did I expect to fall completely into the world of terrorists and gangsters. The set up was a bit short and right to the point which I didn't mind, but I also wish there was more background to the life of gangsters. Also, the sadness of death to the Wolf's family was concise and to the point--not leaving any time for the reader to mourn or process what had happened to them. Though the Wolf is a gangster who has done a lot of non-exemplary things in the past, you can't help but feel sorry/bad for him as he deals with loss.

We are the Goldens by Dana Reinhardt: Book Review

We Are the GoldensWe Are the Goldens by Dana Reinhardt
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was not a book I expected to like but surprisingly did. This is a tale between two sisters, close in age, going through the complications of being teenagers and the social pressures that happen at this age. I find that knowing who you are and who you want to be can be a difficult thing to balance and figure out and this story delves into this world.

The Prisoner of Cell 25 (Michael Vey, #1) by Richard Paul Evans

The Prisoner of Cell 25 (Michael Vey, #1)The Prisoner of Cell 25 by Richard Paul Evans
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I went on a whim picking this whole series up and as I started reading, I was definitely pleased by the story!

Now this story follows a boy who has special "electric" abilities and his journey with his friends and their trip to save his mother who was kidnapped by the people hunting him and his kind.

This story sort of reminds me of the new CWTV series "The Tomorrow People" in which people with powers are being hunted down for their power, basically, except the people in this book have powers of electricity.

If you are looking a good quick read with an underdog team vs. a powerful corporation, then this story may just be for you. I think it is perfect for the younger teens who enjoy reading action books.
I am in the middle of the second book in the series, and the story just progresses and I can't wait to see how it ends up
